BALI PINK RIBBON FUN WALK & RUN 2018 RETURNS
The 10th Annual Charity Fundraiser Event

Denpasar, March 2018… Yayasan Pita Merah Muda Bali or better known as Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation (BPR) is proud to announce its annual charity Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk & Run set for Saturday 20 October 2018 from 2 to 9PM, at ITDC Area Nusa Dua. The fund raising event supports the foundation’s breast cancer awareness education and screening work targeted to underprivileged women in Bali and surrounding islands. This year’s profits will be used to set up a Rumah Singgah for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment.

Bali Pink Ribbon has, for the last 10 years, brought a hugely positive change for the women and families of Bali. Through media campaigns, organised screenings and outreach programs they have lifted the awareness of breast cancer on the island, even to Bali’s far-off rural areas.

The Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk and Run, which they have been doing since 2009, is held in in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Founder of the organisation, Mrs Gaye Warren, a breast cancer survivor herself, was inspired by the Pink Ribbon Walks found in the UK where she hails from, and thus started a similar event here in sunny Bali.

Set in the stunning grounds of the ITDC area in Nusa Dua, opposite Bali Collection Complex, registration opens at 2pm with the walk starting at 4pm. The route is set out along the beautifully manicured gardens of Nusa Dua and along the beach looping back to the main arena where the festivities begin.

Comprised of a 5km fun walk and run, where everyone is dressed in pink, this is not only a fundraising event but a huge awareness campaign for the organisation. The streets of Nusa Dua will be flooded with pink people, balloons, banners – all for breast cancer awareness. After the walk, pink ribbon will be hung ceremoniously on the memorial line in memory of someone who has died of breast cancer.

Other than the walk itself, there are plenty of things to do, with stalls selling food, drink and shopping set up in the ITDC gardens, a kids corner to keep the young ones entertained, a raffle and auction for fun fundraising and live music until 9pm. Of course, on the day FREE breast screenings are offered for women supported by doctors from Prima Medika Hospital.

The Bali Pink Ribbon Walk welcomes participants from in and around Indonesia and beyond of all levels of fitness to join us on a 5km fun and relaxing walk. This year they are looking to have 1,500 people join this walk for a cause. Tickets are on sale from IDR 200,000 including t-shirt and finisher medal for runner or IDR 150,000 including t-shirt for fun walk.

About Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation:

BPR is a volunteer organization working with Indonesian and Singaporean doctors that provides seminars on breast cancer to women across Bali, in companies and villages, providing valuable knowledge and understanding of breast health. The foundation can also arrange for breast screening as it strongly believes that early detection of any changes in breast health saves lives. BPR also has a support center in Denpasar providing a safe place for women to share their experiences of breast cancer with other survivors and those undergoing treatment. Bimonthly survivor meetings and seminars are held at the center, where information on living with and treating breast cancer is available in Indonesian and English. www.balipinkribbon.com
