The money raised will go towards funding free breast screening road shows round Bali and outer islands with medical team and partner, Prima Medika Hospital and volunteer. Funds will also be allocated to continue having support groups meetings and free healthy living informal talk and demonstrations for breast cancer patients. BPR also provides friendly active support for breast cancer patients and their careers. The long term goal for fund raising is setting up a “rumah singgah” – free hostel for women awaiting treatment in the Denpasar hospitals.
Gaye Warren, British founder of Bali Pink Ribbon and a breast cancer survivor said, “Through unique collaboration with Bali based businesses, we create programs where women across the Bali and Indonesia participate in activities and raising money and awareness for a cause close to Bali community hearts—the fight against breast cancer. Cancer waits for no one, so we must continue to make progress for people affected by cancer, who have never needed us more.”
BPR is a volunteer organization working with Indonesian and Singaporean doctors that provides seminars on breast cancer to women across Bali, in companies and villages, providing valuable knowledge and understanding of breast health. The foundation can also arrange for breast screening as it strongly believes that early detection of any changes in breast health saves lives. BPR also has a support center in Denpasar providing a safe place for women to share their experiences of breast cancer with other survivors and those undergoing treatment. Bimonthly survivor meetings and seminars are held at the center, where information on living with and treating breast cancer is available in Indonesian and English. www.balipinkribbon.com
